'Gun control' vs 'Gun rights' 2nd Amendment

The 2nd Amendment was adopted 15 Dec 1791 there were no AK's, M-15/16's, Machine Guns, high powered rifles, Armor Piercing...it is not about how many Rounds/Bullets you have....

....as you can only fire 2 rounds at a time, sure with a clip that holds 36 round each = 72 rounds, if shooting two weapons simultaneously, however those of Criminal Intent without respect for the Law, an evil person can create their own larger capacity clips.

Keeping a Hunting/High Powered Rifle/Assault weapon to a fixed amount of rounds, not selling them/even banding them, changing the laws of ownership, will not prevent those intent on mass killing or killing one person, what about those who make bombs...Boston Marathon Bomber or other event a bombing took place.

what Laws or Enforcement has stopped Illegal Guns, Explosives, etc. or those traded/sold illegally...and the Criminal Element of Intent, has Guns.

Even our own Government blew that one in Gun Sales that cost the life of an Agent from "Operation Fast and Furious"  2000 Guns tracked by the ATF have been found at crime scenes on both sides of the Mexico–United States border, and the scene where U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed December 2010.

Shooting People sitting/standing/huddled in a Theater, School, Mall, etc. is cowardly and no one is shooting back at the Criminal, you/others become an easy target.

Having a Legal gun permit or concealed weapon permit, does what...when the Criminal still has guns.  Even when I moved here, I contacted the Police Department about if I should register my Guns, since I came from another State where I had purchased them over 30 yrs ago.  No Comment

In case no one has noticed Wars fought from the beginning of time besides killing also introduce Weapons, changes and advance design to better defend/use in Combat from the days of Flintlocks, Bows and Arrows, Swords, Armour, etc.

No Law can change History, maybe alter the Future a little, and nothing will stop Wars.

We learn, adapt, continue on and some use the excuse I own a Gun for Protection, and there are the Cartels, Drug Dealers, Robbers, use a Gun no matter how many bullets it holds and might even say for their Protection too.

People Kill People, can we change Human Nature, if you wish to call it that, can Doctors/Shrinks prevent this in a person...some who Kill, are Quiet, to themselves, introverts...then one day they Release, and during the Interviews by the Media, the Parents were Unaware or the Neighbors say He was a nice Boy or came from a Nice Family.

Telling others you have a Gun, does not keep someone from committing a crime.  And if you cannot get to that gun or able to use it in the event you feel your life is in danger, your reason to have a gun ??? was what. And what kind of training did you have...do you drink, do drugs and have access to a Gun, have financial issues, or other reason for a person might feel the need to use/or want to use a Gun.

Do you never go anywhere, and if you do, do you carry a gun of any size/caliber.  It does not matter if it is a 22, 32, 38, 45, 357, 380, etc..of course their are those that feel the bigger the bad'er the Gun, makes a difference...what if the Gun jams, fails to fire, or you find yourself in a situation and you have no Gun.

Defending Your Home & Family is the American way...and you probably would want to be able to do the same no matter where you and family go, together or separately.

Recently in Utah, a Suspect with a long criminal record, shot and killed an Officer in Utah, while he was sitting in his car running wants & warrants check via computer/radio and another Office was wounded at another location and shot in the head.   Probably both may have been wearing Protective Vest, no Vest is Bullet Proof.

And for those who fear Guns....

Drunk Drivers, Distracted Drivers, Illegal & Legal Drugs, Auto Accidents caused by speeding, falling asleep, texting, and other Alcohol related deaths....Cause more deaths than those of Our American Hero's killed in Iraq or Afghanistan or American's Killed by Guns on American Soil.

Here are some stats I researched

  • Each year approximately 16,000 Americans are killed in alcohol-related crashes or 43 American lives daily.
  • In the last decade, 4 times those Americans killed in Vietnam (58,148) died in alcohol-related crashes.
  • 40,000 to 50,000 Americans die in auto accidents a year or 123 American lives daily
  • Over 125,000 Americans die from drug reactions and mistakes each year. 342 American lives daily
  • Each year, over 50,000 Americans die from alcohol abuse. 137 American lives daily
  • Over 400,000 die from cigarette-related illnesses annually or 1095 American lives daily
  • Less than 3,000 die from illegal drugs annually or 45 American lives daily

Do we Stop selling Alcohol, Motorized Vehicles, Cigarettes ?   Or stop Aircraft from flying as the event 11 Sep 2001, the total that day 2,977 victims + 19 hijackers died.

And even today years later American's continue to die as a result of this event from the crashing of American Airlines Flight 11, United Airlines Flight 175, and American Airlines Flight 77...those who aided in the rescue, Fire, Police, Medical, Citizens from the air they breathed that day in their Act of Heroism.

Had the Pilots had Guns or Air Marshals been on board, that might have changed History a little.
