A look at the Past = the Future my thoughts

Law cannot go about shooting tires out, always in the right position to toss out spikes, do the PIT, at the opportune time...and I have always thought of ways to disable a vehicle on the Officer's terms.  I even thought of a joust or harpoon type device (like toggle/molly bolt) that mounts on Police Cruiser and can be extended into the vehicle of pursuit from any side, deploying its barbs, and the Cruiser begins to brake or plant a small explosive device to disable the vehicle.

Problem, is it safe at the time of deployment to occupants or bystanders, other vehicles on the road, and if the vehicle is larger and out weighs the Cruiser.  A CHIP stopped a Semi coming down the Grapevine once, and he just braked his Cruiser to stop the Semi...almost ideal situation, and not a pursuit.
Most all vehicles have Spark Plugs, rotary cap, electrical ignition, some with electrical fuel pumps...so something to disrupt the flow of current.

Just as Fire can be put out with sound.  The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) extinguishes burning fuel by trapping it in an acoustic field generated by surrounding speakers.

Usually the problem is Funding, approval and in the wrong hands can turn the tide on Police vehicles or any responding Emergency Vehicle.

Same in the world of Space, Satellites, Star Wars...whose to say something already in space launched by another country, has the ability to ram, laser or other means of disabling a crucial Satellite as used in Global Positioning.

People use to laugh at Flash Gordon, dates back to the 1930s on the radio, then movies & TV...same of Spy shows & Movies way before your time, dates back to 1914, 1928 Spione, and Alfred Hitchcock's spy films in the 1930s with his influential thrillers "The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934)" imagination becomes a reality.

I love learning about Modern Warfare...there will never be World Peace, Go Where No Man has Dared to Go Before...is a reality and it will spill over into Space travel, habitations on another planet.

Many fear/feared Robots taking over, which some robots already has replace workers of monotonous & repetitive tasks....I worked the labor fields outside of Fresno in the 1960's...eventually migrant workers will be a thing of the past...and the main reason others enter the USA is for work, a better way of life or because they are on the run or possibly criminals.

With Population growth, eventually we will run out of farm and ranch lands. Who will pick/harvest and what crops, or grow/raise meat & slaughter.

We cannot possibly keep up with the growth of vehicles on the highways no matter their source of energy.

Sure we have Cars that fly, oh sure then we have midair collisions like accidents on the ground.  Raining down on who

If we have no fuel, what happens to our Aircraft, Ships, Trains/Rail, Military vehicles, etc.  I am sure this will hamper World Trade.  We need resources, which cannot last forever.

When was the last time you saw an Electric American Airlines flying overhead almost quiet.  Or an Electric Aircraft Carrier, Submarine, Destroyer, sure there is Nuclear, put one of those in an Airline, yeah right.

8 days for the Sun rays to reach Earth and then one day we see the Sun go out or explode.  Or maybe it happens after the Sunsets at 2 a.m.

Visionaries: having or showing clear ideas about what should happen or be done in the future, of or relating to something that is seen or imagined in a dream or vision, able or likely to see, etc.

Shakespeare said in the 1600's "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players"

I acclaim on this day, "The Whole World is a Game Board, We do not know who are the Players, moving the Pieces, or their Intent win or lose.  We have no choice in the side we are on."

The World is full of surprises, this concept is nothing new...look at the progress of this nation since the Industrial Revolution, in relation & time it took to reach this day.

I look at myself as a Realist, Idealist, and a Visionary, without Money or years left to make a difference.

I thought I had designed the perpetual motion car...and I still believe it...however, without money to build my idea, test it, etc...it remains a Dream...also it has moving parts, nothing is or lasts forever.

And another idea of mine is Aircraft Modules/Compartmentalized for Airlines, that are assembled with their own means of descent, survival equipment, be it over land or water...however it would be like a Jet Fighter with ejection seat, when all indications are and the Pilot or Co-Pilot hear "Eject Eject Eject" then it will be initiated....but it comes down to cost effectiveness...

....and who is in what compartment at the time of catapulting your section to safety.  Will you be with the one you want?

And if your Section fails to catapult/eject, ah Human Error is to blame.

Back to the drawing board....it might have worked for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH-370, however if it was Pilot Sabotage, who can you trust....Doctor Over Here, help me.

the Not too Distant Past, Present & Future - Technology

Circles, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, YouToo and however many more Social Media sites there are, way too much, too confusing...like in the days of IM/Instant Messaging a type of online chat 80's-90's, with PowWow, ICQ, AOL Instant Messenger, CompuServe, Yahoo IM, ICeeYou, CU-SeeMe, you had to join/subscribe to several to be able to talk either by typing or voice.

Allow others to join in, so you could chat with 2 or more people at once.  Then select Invisible, as if others saw you online, then they wanted to chat, you had 2 or 3 Chat/IM's open at once connected by a 56K modem or less 14.4 baud modem.  Then came software to connect your Chat/IM's within one program.

I go back before AOL, CompuServ, Genie, Prodigy, Tripod with Usernets & BBS, when with e-mail you could not write someone on AOL unless you were a subscriber.  I was on Prodigy in 1984, also the first service to offer the "Home Page" html.

Then came Friendster, MySpace, Facebook...Blog Early, Blog Often (BeBo)

the Computer having been around for so many years before the above evolution was to save time and paper...how funny is that.  And I believe the Computer was also that of Organization, for your files, documents, pictures, music, videos, etc.

People wanted Computers to do what they wanted, when they themselves did not know...as the Computer was to do the thinking for you, was Smart and should know everything.  Only became very Frustrating, those still trying to figure out the Remote Control or use the Microwave.

Pencil with eraser, Paper, Ink Pen, Tape Recorder were aids used in School.  Folders and File Cabinets, which probably every business still uses...hard drives smaller and smaller holding more, the Thumb Drive with no moving parts, Wireless computing, Laptops, Notebooks, SmartPhones, iPods, iPhone, etc.

1/3 of the world possibly uses the Internet

Today...the Glass, Face Recognition, Security Cameras everywhere, monitor your Home from Work, track your children & family, your car, someone's phone...so we become the snoop, spy, eavesdropper, Googling everything and everyone.

NSI (National Security Institute), NSA (National Security Agency) and so the World is made up of Spies, to watch secretly, to search or look for intensively, be alert,    watchful, observant, attentive, of your surroundings...vigilant to avoid danger.

Even our Cars are now driving Computers, equipped with WiFi, rolling Wi-Fi hot spots connected to the Internet, in-car technology, that is to improve driver awareness and reduce distractions, alert you of road conditions ahead or the closest restaurant, filling station (fuel or electricity), so your Vehicle comes with a Media Package, Touch Screen, Voice commands...wait there is the Vehicle that drives itself and parks, just sit back and socialize.

People will not be asking how fast your car will go in 60 sec., or how many Horsepower are under the Hood...it will be What Can Your Car Do, that Mine Cannot...no more Radio, CD/Tape Player, Cigarette Lighter, but On-board Computer-ing, factory-installed GPS systems, HUD (Heads Up Display), Touch Screen, WiFi, USB Ports, Applications, Memory, Data Transfer Rate.

Android on Steroids, I doubt you will find Microsoft Windows OS in your vehicles computer system.   Mechanic asks the Owner, what is your problem...I think my Car has a Virus, on the Heads Up Display shows "Not Responding", Re-Boots and then shows Operating System Not Found.

Cruise Control was something of the future at one time...cars that fly, or are amphibious, so what is the next invention, way of life....the 3D Printer, make your own Heart out of your own cells...maybe cloning that child you wanted.

Caution: Toys for Pets

Caution: Toys for Pets, we have purchased many different type toys for our Dogs over the years, Kong seems to be the only real toy to hold up in weather and in the mouths of our Dogs, as compared to other toys that may label as Durable, Indestructible, Invincible and picture a Pet playing with/using the Toy.

One such toy was the JW Pet Company "Invincible Chains" - that pictured a Dalmatian on the packaging - part of their description "Suitable for medium, large and giant breed dogs, Seamless Rings, no glue, Solid natural resilient rubber Tug, toss, fetch and chew toy, Long-lasting dog toy"...our previous Acacia Embers a Dalmatian, pulverized part of this 3 Ring toy into little pieces in no time, creating several choking hazards for your dog, other pets and possibly Children.

JW’s solid rubber toys are made of durable, tough, natural rubber that’s made especially for the powerful chewers.  So, let them sink their teeth into a JW toy and make them happy."

Recently for our Border Collies, we purchased the "Oddball" their product description, "Our design process incorporates the highest quality safe materials into each of our toys.

this product made in China, distributed by Delca Corp.

Note om the product's packaging (for similar description as above), information about  the manufacture, where the toy was made/produced, keep the labeling of toys for reference in the event of an emergency.

Maintain current numbers to an Emergency Veterinarian and Pet Hospital on hand.

Suggestion: I scan all Medical/Adoption/Ownership documentation and store on my computer and SmartPhone for reference in an emergency situation, vaccinations, tag number, Microchip info, also current pictures of my pets, in the event your pet goes missing...

...You may not always be at home with your pet, so if traveling with your pet, it is nice to have this information with you at all times.

I have written in the past JW Pet Company
, and did not receive a favorable response, so we no longer buy any of their 125 patents pet-focused ideas.

Caution-Warning: Pets should not be left unsupervised while playing with manufactured toys/pet products.  Remove toy from your Pet immediately, if any pert becomes loose or detached.

Which is almost impossible to be monitoring/watching your pet 24/7.  Spay/Neuter, Keep Pets on a leash in public, in a Fenced Yard or Indoors, making your home Pet Safe as possible, they are your Children & Responsibility.

Never leave a Pet or Child, same of a Person not able to care for themselves unattended in a vehicle, no matter the weather and always check around your vehicle before moving your vehicle for Pets or Children.

Windows XP PC's aren't as secure as...

...they it used to be

If you continue to use Windows XP without XP support, your computer may still work but will become vulnerable to security risks and viruses.

And as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, a greater number of programs and devices like cameras and printers won’t work with Windows XP.

You can try to upgrade your Windows XP machine to the new Windows for $199. Due to the age of your computer, consider all the details.

Windows 8.1 brings you the Windows Store, Start screen, and Microsoft account, but also enhancements in personalization, search, Store apps, and cloud connectivity—and the security and reliability features you expect from Windows.

Keywords: "security and reliability features you expect from Windows"

My response since beginning with Windows 3.0, I am still waiting for the security and reliability from Microsoft.

Purchase a new Windows PC starting at $249. New Windows PCs are 37% less expensive than Windows XP computers in 2002. And with built in security, your PC will be more secure.

New Windows PCs are thinner, lighter, faster, more powerful, and have longer battery life than Windows XP computers.  And many of them also have touchscreens.

Driving in America vs War since 2001

In 2011, more than 3,300 people died in crashes involving distracted driving, add to those numbers killed by drunk or impaired drivers each year on an average of 30 American people a day = over 10,900 each year...

In 2010, 10,228 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (31%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States.

Of the 1,210 traffic deaths among children ages 0 to 14 years in 2010, 211 (17%) involved an alcohol-impaired driver.

Of the 211 child passengers ages 14 and younger who died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2010, over half (131) were riding in the vehicle with the alcohol-impaired driver.

In 2010, over 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.  That's one percent of the 112 million self-reported episodes of alcohol-impaired driving among U.S. adults each year.

Drugs other than alcohol (e.g., marijuana and cocaine) are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths. These other drugs are often used in combination with alcohol.

American's raise more than an eyebrow at (not being insensitive) the number of US Troops killed in Iraq or Afghanistan since 2001, which number just over 7,000.  So we can see by these stats, War is Safer than Driving on our American Roads.

Sesame Stairs for Disabled

Good Idea...the Sesame Stairs  / Allgood Trio Sesame Steps

The questions or problems I have & wonder about....would be inclement weather as with snow & ice, how will Sesame Stairs/steps work, or in the event of a power failure, are the Sesame Stairs connected to generator power.  And the argument would become, do not go out in the snow & ice.

In the event of Fire or Emergency Evacuation...ramps are nicer, yes they take up more room which might be less expensive, but for this building in the video would impose on sidewalk space, and if you are not in a motorized chair, would be more difficult to ascend/descend.  I am sure there are alternatives.

Other issues with not being ambulatory, using walker or wheelchair, in the event of a Fire Alarm, elevators are design to go to the ground floor, building occupants are to use the stairs.

Human Behavior in building emergency evacuation, the perception of hazards can stress crowds, evoke their competitive behaviors, trigger disorder thus blocking passage ways, exits as we have seen/heard about i.e. Nightclubs, Sporting events, etc.

The disabled with walkers or wheelchairs or others with less mobile disabilities can become a problem, as with those rushing to an exit tend to bottle neck, cause trampling, and blocking egress.

The ambulatory might not be helpful, others might not see an obstacle ahead and continue to press forward.

Even using an Evacuation Chair in the event those are trampled or crushed are not able to get out under their own power, the chair requires more than one person to aid with the chair & egress down or up
stairs.

I know the above is beyond the ingress / egress of a building for the disabled using the Sesame Stairs/Steps...however those capable of normal ingress / egress also can benefit from this knowledge & education.

Training for all that is similar that Fire Fighters perform without hoses, equipment, gear worn/used, would be useful in emergency situations.

This training would be useful for those becoming Disorientated & Confused, along with fear or stress, could save their/your life.
