Scientist Find - Realize - Discover

News Event - Russian scientists camped at the coldest place on Earth say they have recovered water samples from Lake Vostok, buried beneath more than 2 miles of Antarctic ice.  Cut off as it is from the surface, scientists think that the huge freshwater lake hasn't been touched for more than 14 million years. The chemistry of the isolated water could provide a glimpse into Earth's past and primitive forms of life on Earth.

Expedition leaders hope the lake is home to cold-loving microbes adapted to life in the dark, icy depths, also cut off from the outside world for millennia.

My Views/Comments: Why do Scientists spend money and time to explore the depths, on the surface and beyond into space to learn about the past....when they should be looking at what might be happening in the near future NOW !!!???

WHO CARES !!! about 14 million years ago.

News Event - The Milky Way Galaxy May Be Less Massive Than Thought

The Milky Way galaxy, home of Earth's solar system, may actually be only half as massive as currently thought, scientists say.

Stars in the far outer reaches of the Milky Way, between 260,000 and 490,000 light-years from the galactic center, are cruising around surprisingly slowly, researchers found.

My Views/Comments:  Scientists are surprised to discover our galaxy may be far from the size previously thought.  SO WHAT !!! its not like I can drive to see for myself, as if I was going on a trip to the Grand Canyon or Yosemite or the Grand Tetons.

When Scientist, Explorers, Governments should be looking to fix, resolve issues happening right now in their Front Yard...as in the future maybe too late.
